Biography

Rosa is born around 1806 in Corleone, the daughter of Innocenzo di Miceli and Castrenza Cannino.

Rosa is named after her oldest sister, who is presumed to have died the previous year, not long after her 1805 marriage. The girls are both named for their maternal grandmother. They do not have a sister named after their father's mother.

The second Rosa appears at one year of age (b. 1806) in the 1807 stato delle animo, a Church census. She lives with her parents, paternal grandmother, and seven of her sisters and brothers, in the terza vanella, or alley, from the Canzoneri church, traveling away from Santa la Croce di Elena. Their neighbors in the vanella include the families of Innocenzo's brothers Simone and Francesco, and of Gaetano Oliveri.^[1]

Rosa marries Bernardo Vintaloro, son of the late Pasquale Vintaloro and the living Maria Santoro, on 3 November 1822.^[2]

Rosa and Bernardo have at least two children: Maria (c. 1824), named after her paternal grandmother, and Castrenza (c. 1830), named after maternal grandmother.

Maria marries Epifanio Fratello on 30 July 1846. Her parents have died by this time.^[3]

Castrenza marries Domenico Vintaloro on 15 September 1850 in Corleone.^[4]
